We started the Christmas season last Friday night, 30th November, when we invited the local businesses and retailers in Bray for an hour of Christmas Cheer at The Well with mellow music, mulled wine and canapés.
We are very thankful to all who worked so hard to make the evening a great success. It was exciting to welcome many of the retailers that we have been visiting on a Wednesday morning, along with some new faces. The atmosphere in The Well was warm and Christmassy! We explained the Pray & Purchase initiative at MVCC, supporting the local economy both in prayer and in action. Gina Jolley, who has had a successful business in the town since 1986 spoke about her experiences through the years, and how she learnt to give her business to God and trust Him in everything. She encouraged everyone to “Give God a chance!” We went on to introduce the Daily Prayer of Blessing for the town of Bray which has been promoted by Bray Churches Together. The evening ended off with coffee and we had opportunities to pray with a number of our guests.
The Wicklow Times picked up on the Pray & Purchase theme, and made it their headline the following Monday, followed by an article about the Prayer of Blessing for the town of Bray.
It’s wonderful to see many new faces at our Sunday morning gathering each week. If you have been coming along for a while, please remember to do your bit to help visitors feel welcome.
A reminder to parents – your children are your own responsibility while they are in the building, so please ensure that you know where they are! Please remind your children that no running is permitted in The Well, due to safety concerns – there has been a few near misses with hot coffee!
We have sensed in the last number of months that we are in a new season of corporate prayer. Many thanks to Peter & Sallyann have been leading The Tent on a Monday evening, and have encouraged us in praying prophetically and powerfully for our town and nation. It was great to have JC Alzamora with us at The Canopy in November, as we spent time praying Scripture into the atmosphere over our region.
We are encouraging everyone in the community to think again about regular Bible reading. Julie has new resources in The Gallery Bookshop to help in both daily Bible reading and in understanding of the Word of God. Make sure you pay the bookshop a visit. It’s always open on Sunday and Wednesday mornings from 10.00am – 1.00pm.

We are so thankful to God for all He has done this year in and through the life of MVCC. And we are thankful for each one of you, and the contribution you individually make to the life and community of Mountain View. We look forward to all that’s ahead in 2013 with the promise that ‘He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion’. Sounds like we’ve only just begun!
A very blessed Christmas to you all, with our love, Nigel & Louise
